Speaking at the International Cloud Summit today, Zhang Jianfeng, President of AliCloud Intelligence, said that AliCloud will continue to increase its investment in the global market and firmly promote Alibaba’s cloud computing and globalization development strategy to provide important infrastructural capabilities for digitization in various fields.
Zhang Jianfeng stated that AliCloud’s internationalisation began in 2014, and since then it has successively provided services in Asia, Europe and North America, becoming the third largest cloud provider in the world and the first in Asia Pacific. In the past year, AliCloud continued to promote its international layout, adding seven new overseas data centres in South Korea, Thailand, Germany, Indonesia, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
At the International Summit, AliCloud announced to invest 7 billion RMB to build an international ecosystem and set up six service centres in Porto, Mexico City, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai to optimize the service and delivery experience in overseas markets.
Zhang Jianfeng said that in the international market, AliCloud will accelerate the establishment of an ecological partner system locally, cultivate digital talents and enhance developer capabilities.
At the same time, Zhang Jianfeng suggested that AliCloud would insist on building low-carbon and sustainable cloud computing infrastructure in the international market, reducing energy consumption through liquid cooling technology, power optimization technology and intelligent operation and maintenance while building large-scale networks.
As the only cloud computing service provider appointed by the International Olympic Committee, AliCloud has successfully supported the Tokyo and Beijing Olympics to broadcast globally through cloud computing, and supported the core systems to be fully clouded in the Beijing Winter Olympics. In the future, AliCloud will continue to provide cloud computing support for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
AliCloud currently operates 85 available areas in 28 regions around the world, with services covering more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, and it has the largest cloud infrastructure in Asia.
