Yang Yirui, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Portugal, predicts that Portugal and China could collaborate in the construction of automobiles.

At the international conference ‘Together, We Create the Future – Together, Leading the Way’, organised by the National Association of the Automotive Sector (ARAN), the Chinese ambassador stated that “China and Portugal have great potential to collaborate in this area,” as quoted by AIECP.

According to the same source, Yang Yirui affirms that “Portugal possesses unique advantages in the production of parts and renewable energies,” while “China has vast experience in the manufacture of complete vehicles, batteries, and intelligent systems,” making it the perfect combination for collaboration between the two countries.

The focus of the meeting was the rise of China as a new superpower in the automotive industry, which makes the approach especially relevant “for Portugal, which maintains a historical relationship with China spanning more than four centuries and whose automotive sector today faces increasingly intense and structuring international competition.”
