CCILC and PHKCCI co-organised a mission that brought more than 20 Portuguese companies and institutions to Chongqing from 18 to 20 October, and which then continued to Chengdu. In Chongqing, the delegation was received by the Deputy Mayor of Chongqing, Huang Maojun.

CCILC, Rongheng Group and Nabeiro Group signed a cooperation agreement. Delta Cafés opened its first store in China, in Chongqing, and CCILC will set up a representative office in the city. The delegation also took part in business matchmaking meetings and visited Seres, Raffles City and Chongqing International Bio City.

In Chengdu, the delegation attended the Europe-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair. Carlos Torres, Secretary-General of PHKCCI, said that Portuguese companies are more aware of China’s scale and technological progress and want to do more business and cooperate more.

Joaquim Frederico, of Delta Food, argued that direct contact helps correct the image that still exists in Europe about the Chinese market: “It is good that they come, see, visit, talk to people and return as ambassadors of China.”

The mission stemmed from contacts initiated in April, when Rongheng Group joined the Macao SAR delegation to Portugal and Spain and three cooperation intentions were identified. Bernardo Mendia, Secretary-General of CCILC, led the mission.
