Macau’s first post-pandemic in-person tourism promotion in Europe began in downtown Lisbon, Portugal, with a video mapping show and exhibition, as part of the “Experience Macau Unlimited – Macau Promotion in Lisbon” series of events organized by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
The “Light Up Macau: Macau Tourism Video Mapping Show” depicts a multi-coloured picture of the city in Lisbon’s Square of Commerce. The 12-minute show will be exhibited at 8:30 p.m., 9:00 p.m., 9:30 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. every night until April 22. According to a press release from MGTO, the show’s design concept comprises four chapters, namely “Encounter of Chinese and Portuguese cultures,” “Heritage and Gastronomy,” Deepening the cross-sectoral integration of “Tourism +,” and the “1+4” Strategy in support of appropriate economic diversification.
The “Experience Macau Unlimited” program brings together MGTO, Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the six gaming operators. It is held at Square of Commerce from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., also until April 22, and includes themed zones and booths.
Meanwhile, a delegation of 40 Macau businessmen has arrived in Portugal for a nine-day trip to Lisbon and Porto. IPIM indicated that they will visit 13 local entities, including industrial and commercial institutions, as well as companies from key industries such as big health, high technology, and commerce.
The week-long exhibition in Lisbon and the IPIM-led business delegation take place as Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng is scheduled to start a five-day trip to Portugal on Tuesday (April 18). It will be Ho’s first post-COVID-19 overseas trip.
