Lusophone exports to Macau surge 66.5 pct in first seven months of 2023

Merchandise exports from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau have increased by 66.5 per cent year-on-year in the first seven months of the year, according to official data released on Wednesday.

Lusophone countries exported goods worth MOP 861 million patacas (USD 107 million), as reported by Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

Conversely, the value of exports from Macau to Portuguese-speaking countries was only 490 thousand patacas (USD 61 thousand), marking a decrease of 56.8 per cent.

The total amount of foreign trade in goods between January and July of this year in Macau amounted to MOP 90.18 billion (USD 11.3 million), demonstrating a growth of 5 per cent year-on-year.
