One week after the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC) participated in the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) — leading a business delegation of six Portuguese companies — the national presence continues to gain attention in Chinese media. The full interview with Bernardo Mendia, Secretary-General of the CCILC, has now been published across several official platforms of CGTN.

In the interview with journalist Xu Yi, Bernardo Mendia stressed the importance of regular Portuguese business engagement with China, given the country’s rapid development, particularly in the technology sector. “Companies need to visit China at least once a year. If they don’t, they won’t understand what’s happening, especially from a technological point of view,” he said.

Mendia also underlined China’s position as a global leader in supply chains, noting the remarkable modernisation achieved in recent years. “If there were an international standard for supply chains, China would be number one,” he stated.

Looking ahead, he identified green energy as one of the most promising areas for bilateral cooperation, given Portugal’s strategic positioning and expertise in the sector. He also emphasised Portugal’s unique role as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, particularly in Africa and South America, through investment, financing, and cultural links.
