The Portugal-China (CCILC) and Portugal-Hong Kong (PHKCCI) Chambers of Commerce and Industry returned to Business Breakfasts, on September 26, at the headquarters of Abreu Advogados, one of the sponsors of the event along with Joinco, trading specialist in the Chinese market.
The event kicked off with a breakfast served outside the head office, which allowed participants to introduce themselves and make new contacts.
The conference began with Marta Trindade and Fernando Veiga Gomes, who are in charge oi the China Desk at Abreu Advogados, giving the opening speech.
This was followed by a presentation by Pascal Coppens, author, sinologist, and tech entrepreneur with thousands of views on Youtube, on the topic “China’s New Normal: How China Sets the Standard for Innovation”. Thus, the participants were taken on a journey through time, to demonstrate the speed with which China has evolved over the last 30 years and adapted to become the current world power, with the help of technological innovation.

At the same time, comparisons were drawn with the West through concrete examples, and various myths were dispelled. Finally, it was possible to conclude that the speed at which Chinese companies grow and innovate, the agility with which they adapt, the construction of ecosystems based on technology, and the focus on the consumer are crucial aspects in their development process in the Chinese economy.
After the presentation, the participants had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify doubts with the guest, in a well-attended Q&A that was moderated by Tiago Mateus, Joinco’s representative in China.
