European Chamber of Commerce gala dinner to deepen Australia-Portugal economic and trade cooperation

The European Chamber of Commerce in Macau will hold a dinner “Portuguese Wind and Blue Waves” at the Grand Lisboa Auditorium at 7:30 this evening. The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Roberto Dimon, and representatives of European institutions in Macau, as well as representatives from Macau’s political and business circles will attend the event. The event aims to deepen the economic, trade and cultural cooperation between Macau and Portugal, and focus on the issue of sustainable marine economic development.

Mr. Su Shuhui, Honorary President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Macau, stressed the importance of sustainable ocean and clean energy, affirmed Portugal’s benchmarking position in the field of renewable energy (high penetration rate), pointed out the cooperation opportunities between China and Europe in the field of sustainable ocean, and called for accelerating technology transfer and market opening through technical cooperation and mutual recognition of standards certification.

Lu Xiaowei, director of the European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macau, pointed out that the diversification of Macau’s economy is a core goal. EU companies can provide sustainable solutions in the fields of finance, logistics, green economy, etc., to help Macau build a financial hub and a low-carbon economy, creating a win-win situation. The EU supports multilateral trade rules and pledges to strengthen cooperation between the EU Office in Hong Kong and Macau and the Macau business community.

Guan Zezhong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European Chamber of Commerce in Macau, said that in a global environment full of uncertainties, China and Europe need to strengthen political and economic cooperation and use Macau as a “bridge between the East and the West” to promote the coordination of rules. And called on the business community to implement China-EU goals in areas such as green economy and technology transfer through pragmatic cooperation.

During the event, the 2025 European Chamber of Commerce in Macau Excellence Award Ceremony was held, and Marisa da Silva, Director of the Portuguese Maritime Policy Agency, was invited to give a keynote speech, focusing on the development of marine resources, ecological protection technologies and bilateral cooperation paths.
