The chairman of the executive committee of BNU believes that there is now a possibility of Portuguese companies investing in the cooperation zone in Hengqin, following the recent visit of Ho Iat Seng and local businessmen to Portugal.
Carlos Cid Alvares, one of the members of the business delegation, classified the visit as “very positive” and noted that the main shareholder of BNU, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, gives great support to the continuity of banking business in Macau.
The official also considered that the local economy is showing signs of recovery, noting that Macau is back to what it was in terms of tourists and this will eventually be reflected in the confidence of the people.
Carlos Cid Alvares, who was speaking to TDM during the reopening of the premises of the BNU headquarters, in Almeida Ribeiro, assured that the bank “is constantly renewing itself” despite having been in Macau for over 120 years.
