The thrice-weekly direct air connection between Beijing and Lisbon transported more than 80,000 passengers during its first year of operation, marked on Thursday, Beijing Capital Airlines announced.
The airline, part of China’s HNA group, indicated that aircraft serving the route counted nearly 80 percent average occupation during the low season and above 95 percent during the high season, and had “positive future growth prospects.”
It also highlighted the opening of the Beijing-Macau route on 25 July 2017 as a well-defined contribution toward political approximation between the Portuguese nation and Macao.
The Lisbon-Beijing-Macao connection makes that trip easier with a short stopover to change flights in Beijing. The route’s opening confirms an increase in tourist flow between China and Portugal.
Beijing Capital Airlines is considered the biggest of the medium-sized civil aviation companies in China, with vast experience in international flight operations. Its fleet comprises 79 aircraft operating 49 international routes to 26 cities in 13 countries in Europe, North America, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia.
